# Frequency, wavelength

Frequency is physical characteristic of a periodic process, which defines the number of complete cycles of the process performed per unit time. The unit of frequency in the International System of Units (SI) is Hertz (Hz). Frequency, as well as time, is one of the most accurately measured physical quantities with the relative accuracy of up to 10-17.

In nature, there are known periodic processes with frequencies of ~10-16 Hz, the frequency of revolution of the sun around the galactic center, up to ~1035 Hz, which is the frequency of oscillation of the field, typical for most high-energy cosmic rays.
